Opera House

Opera House

The upper level of Fort Buffalo has had many lives, but was originally Stuard's Opera House. The Ashville Museum has an original poster from a performance of "Uncle Tom's Cabin" that was performed in the opera house. There are many advertisements from events and plays that were held in the space, that can be found in historical newspapers. Silent films were later shown here, and there were sports events, and even duck pin bowling, before the Fortner family converted the space into apartments in the 1950s.
